Dry Adhesives
Priced right at just $6.50 per container, this device deposits thin strips of double-sided adhesive, perfect for photos and other items. It's easy to use, clean and neat--to break the tape, think of moving the device like you're making a checkmark. Refills are available for $4.50, and they easily pop into the container with no fuss.
Pop dots are perfect for embellishments, or sprinkle with embossing powder or glitter for some instant unique embellishments of your own. These are a must for stamping! Tip: To get the most use out of your container, you can also cut the outer portion of the foam with scissors.
This is a great, inexpensive double-sided tape for vellum, ribbons,
raffia, wire, glitter, jewels, tinsel and, as shown in my sample,
microbeads! It comes in 8x10 sheets or rolls. It's invisible! While
not as fast as Hermafix, this product is simple to use.
Liquid Adhesives
A quick trick on adhering raffia or other fibers to your layout
that I heard from Stargazer Patterns: While waiting for your liquid
adhesive to dry, use a removable tape (I like the blue Scotch tape)
to hold fibers in place until the glue is dry. This allows more
flexibility in the positioning of your fiber and less mess! It also
leaves no residue upon removal.
This versatile glue goes on white and dries clear for a multitude
of uses. I've found I can even use it for vellum when I smear
it
around evenly with my finger before it dries. If you let it dry
before applying, the adhesive becomes temporary, similar to a
sticky
note (the product contains rubber latex). Plus for $3.50, it's a great
deal!
For smaller items, or when you need a transparent glue (for glitter or beads), I can highly recommend Designer Dried Clear by the Art Glitter Co. This glue dries just a tiny bit flexible, which prevents your glitter from flaking off from movement. Plus, it's acid free and water based.
If you don't mind the mess and are looking to save some money,
there is nothing wrong with using a glue stick in your scrapbooks,
provided it meets the archival qualities above. Plus, these work well for larger surfaces.
This glue is an essential part of the art of decoupage, or covering albums, chipboard and tin with patterned paper. Yes glue will dry flat, and you'll love the results!
